The Midlife Crisis Winery

Dreams come and dreams go - but we are all better for having dreamed at all.

The dream that was Midlife Crisis Winery is over.  In 2004, we dared to follow our dream and developed a plan for the Midlife Crisis Winery.  The plan made a lot of sense and was actually working almost exactly as we planned it.  But the economy wasn't working how we or anyone else planned it...and the plan and the economy and the dream unraveled.

We were forced to sell our land in Paso Robles and close the tasting room.  We are working at selling all the assets of the business and in slowly letting go of the dream.  We also had to say goodbye to Roo (of Roo Boy Red fame) who contracted cancer and died in July.

The tumultuous summer is behind us; we have faced our first harvest season without the winery and are slowly putting together a different and definitely less hectic life.  We are the most sorry to no longer have all of you in our lives.  You were all part of the greatest extended family anyone could hope for; you made weekends fly and made Monday mornings hard to face. less every day.  Sydney is settling into being an only dog (we think)-while she misses us when we are at work during the day, she seems very content to have us all to herself.

All of us miss Mr. Roo a little less everyday. Kevin and I are settling back into a one job only life.  We are re-discovering sleeping in on Saturdays and getting more than four hours sleep a night.  The 2007 Zinfandel has been purchased by another Paso Robles Winery and Orange County winemaker may buy the 2007 Syrah.  A little of Midlife Crisis will live on for another few years.

It is heading into winter - it is a time of endings and new beginnings.  We will be unable to do anything wine related for a few years. We are having the one last final sale here online and will close down the winery - at least for a while - at the end of the year.

We lived our dream - if only for a little while.  Not many people get to do that ever.  We wish you all well and we still believe that chasing the dream is a great thing to do.  We wish you all many more vintage dreams.
